Jayne & Goran, Sydney

Nothing says Sydney wedding like saying ‘I do’ at the iconic Sydney Opera House, followed by a sophisticated dinner overlooking the harbour at one of the city’s number one gastro hot-spots, Aqua Dining.

Jayne and Goran had Mother Nature on their side when they chose to have their wedding in August.

Having said that, Sydney in August is hardly ‘Winter’, at the worst of times! It was a gloriously sunny morning, the jade leaves glistening between dappled sunlight on the tree lined streets of Darlinghurst, where Jayne had booked an incredible sun-filled warehouse for her hair and makeup team to prep her and her girls.

I arrived just after the hair stylist and shortly after, the photographer arrived, blown away by all the natural light!

Enter the Ladies

The girls arrived in clusters and Jayne was nothing but relaxed, which made the whole morning easy and breezy. And despite there being 8 of us bustling around it never felt crowded or busy.

The girls were equally as relaxed and spent their down time ensuring everything was running smoothly, fetching breakfast and coffee for their bride and just enjoying the relaxing getting-ready session taking selfies and laughing at each other.

Finding Jayne's Ideal Look

Jayne doesn’t wear a lot of makeup on a day-to- day basis but when she dresses up she likes to wear a touch more. In the case of her ideal bridal look, she wanted a slightly earthy-toned smoky eye with luminous skin and a natural lip. Knowing that makeup needs to be a bit darker to be noticed in photos and when wearing white, this was actually perfect. Once the dress goes on, it’s so easy to look washed out and Jayne was aware of this and happy for me to make adjustments to ensure she looked both incredible in the flesh and on camera. She wanted her makeup to look natural but also enough that it would be evident in her photos.

Jayne had spent the lead up to her wedding day drinking lots of water, having regular facials to ensure her skin was clean, bright, and her skin tone was even. This plays a huge part in allowing the makeup I apply to not only look amazing all day but to last throughout the night.

Jayne’s bridesmaids each wanted different looks again. And this is fine as each girl needs to feel comfortable as she prepares to stand next to her best girlfriend as she becomes a wife.

One of the girls wanted a smoky eye, similar to Jayne’s but with more grey tones. This suited her colouring as her hair and skin were more cooler tones. The other bridesmaid was happy with a very basic look, including light foundation, minimal eyeshadow and a classic winged liner.

Each of the girls looked absolutely stunning as they stood, dressed and ready to go, in front of me, with Jayne smiling her last smiles as a Miss!
